Harry's Trails Around The World

Harry Travels World

Gambia

First (only) visit: December 2007 Visited: Banjul, Serekunda, Brikama. It takes some effort to rank last in a list of 200th, but little Gambia has just that distinction, of being the place I would call the pits. Mainly because of the most annoying street hustlers, who won't let you off even for a minute. Banjul is an uninteresting mess and the sea looks like a soup. The roads entering from Senegal are something to be seen to be believed, while the street scenes are out of the most chaotic and dirty Muslim nightmare story possible, replete with dead animals on the non-existing pavements. Highlight: The distinction of also being the only visa I got into without a visa, even though I need one...thanks to incompetence of officials and a bit of luck!
