First visit: April 2005
Subsequent visit: December 2010
Visited: Bogota, Cartagena, Islas de Rosario, Leticia.
Cartagena was one of the prettiest places I have been to, a UNESCO world heritage city with a reason: the pictures tell the story better than I could, the colonial atmosphere comes alive here. The Islas de Rosario are also picturesque, with the many local sellers of seashells and other memorabilia, though the water here is disappointing. I never felt the place was dangerous, and despite my fears in Bogota, that place was fine also. Leticia in the Amazon is one groovy out of the way destination...
Highlight: the old town of Cartagena, a perfect place to link history and style.
