Harry's Trails Around The World

Harry Travels World

Croatia - Slavonia, Istra and coast

First visit (whole country): March 1997 Subsequent visits: July 1999, March 2001, July 2002, April 2003, July 2003, September 2003, April 2004, March 2005, June/July 2005, January 2008, February 2008, April 2009, May/June 2009, March 2013. Visited (in this album): Split, Dubrovnik, Rovinj, Rijeka, Hum, Vukovar, Vinkovci, Zupanja, Slavonski Brod, Nova Gradiska, Osijek. Admittedly a lovely country on the whole, the regions covered in this album are very diverse. The east of Croatia is flat and not all that exciting really, but then the coast as well as Istra make up both in sites and in cultural diversity, and fill up with tourists in the summer, and I can understand why. Split is very pretty at parts, though somehow Dubrovnik, which I had been saving for years, was ultimately rather disappointing, perhaps due to high expectations. I have yet to visit any of the islands, which I am sure are worth it. Highlight: Rovinj, a real jewel of a place.
