Harry's Trails Around The World

Harry Travels World

China

First visit: September 2004 Subsequent visits: September 2010, March 2011. Visited: Beijing, Shanghai and all provinces of the country. Had I had a digital camera at the time, there would have been more than 100 pictures here for sure. I expected the Chinese to be arrogant and cold and Beijing a disorganised mess. Far from it, I thought we had landed in Tokyo! There are many lovely parks and of course loads of world-known sites, from Tianamen square to the Forbidden city. The malls are bizarre and serve to show that China isn't quite so developed. The contrasts, surprises and unknowns at every corner are enough to write a book about for sure. Highlight: Having to drink turtle blood - disgusting, but culturally challenging.
