Visited: most of the island
The jewel of Brazil, hailed as true paradise, is one for divers, surfers and ecologists. For the rest of us, it is a pleasant, low-key place to chill out, with decent beaches and lovely flora and fauna, but the sky-high prices (making sure few people make it here) will really be a problem for a longer stay.
Highlight: The chill-out atmosphere.
